No hope of survivors in Pakistan plane crash: police
A passenger airliner crashed near Islamabad on Friday while trying to land during a thunderstorm, officials said, with all 127 people on board believed dead.
The Bhoja Air flight from Karachi burst into flames after coming down in fields near a village on the outskirts of the Pakistani capital as it tried to land in rain and hail at the city's international airport.
The airline said the Boeing 737 was carrying 121 passengers, including 11 children, as well as six crew.
"There is no chance of any survivors. It will be only a miracle. The plane is totally destroyed," police official Fazle Akbar told AFP from the crash site.
So far 110 bodies have been recovered from the crash site, Brigadier Sarfraz Ali, who is heading the recovery efforts, told reporters.
"We cannot identify them because some of the bodies are not recognisable," he said.
Debris from the crash was scattered over a two-kilometre (mile-and-a-half) radius, he said. Lights had been brought to the site to allow work to continue through the night, he added.
Torn fragments of the fuselage, including a large section bearing the airline's logo, littered the fields around the village of Hussain Abad, where the plane came down.
Rescue workers in orange jumpsuits and local residents used torches to search through the wreckage after nightfall, assisted by soldiers carrying assault rifles.
Part of the airline's name could be read on a large section of ripped white fuselage from the passenger cabin.
The smell of burning filled the air at the scene and human limbs were scattered in a large area spattered with blood, witnesses said.
An AFP reporter saw an orange flight data recorder in a house where some of the wreckage fell.
Pakistan Navy official Captain Arshad Mahmood said the crash happened as the plane approached the runway to land.
"The weather was very bad, there was hail and thunderstorm. The pilot lost control and hit the ground. It tossed up due to the impact and exploded and came down in a fireball," he said.
Saifur Rehman, an official from the police rescue team, said the plane burst into flames after impact.
"Fire erupted after the crash. The wreckage is on fire, the plane is completely destroyed," Rehman told Geo television.
An airport source said the plane had been due to land at Islamabad airport at 6:50 pm (1350 GMT) but lost contact with the control tower at 6:40 pm and crashed shortly afterwards.
Distraught relatives gathered at the airports in Islamabad and Karachi, searching for the names of loved ones on the passenger list for the ill-fated flight.
"Please don't talk to me, I have just lost my loving father," a teenage boy cried in Karachi.
A probe has been ordered into the crash, Defence Secretary Nargis Sethi said.
"A team of investigators comprising senior civil aviation officials have immediately started investigations," Sethi said.
"We are working under the direct supervision of president and prime minister."
Nadeem Khan Yusufzai, director general of Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority, said initial reports suggested the bad weather was to blame for the crash.
Bhoja Air relaunched domestic operations with a fleet of five 737s in March, according to newspaper reports, when the airline was planning to start flights connecting Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Lahore and Islamabad.
Bhoja had been grounded in 2000 by the Civil Aviation Authorities amid financial difficulties, the reports said.
The worst aviation tragedy on Pakistani soil came in July 2010 when an Airbus 321 passenger jet operated by the private airline Airblue crashed into hills overlooking Islamabad while coming in to land after a flight from Karachi.
All 152 people on board were killed in the accident, which occurred amid heavy rain and poor visibility.
The deadliest civilian plane crash involving a Pakistani jet came in 1992 when a PIA Airbus A300 crashed into a cloud-covered hillside on its approach to the Nepalese capital Kathmandu, killing 167 people.

As pretty as it is, this Secret World is too Earthbound by far.
The Secret World of Arrietty is a marvelously captivating animated feature about very tiny people and the full-scale world they inhabit.
Yonebayashi gives Arrietty an excellent sense of balance, with the adventure aspects of the story, which feel legitimately dangerous providing well-paced contrast the film's more placid moments.
It's an enjoyable and attractive-looking film, but a little of that "Speed Racer" energy wouldn't have been such a bad thing.
The visual details are inventive, and the animation - particularly the colors - is lovely.
"The Secret World of Arrietty'' is a feast for the eyes that will engage the entire family.
Like motion picture Yoga--quietly cathartic and just the thing to raise your kids on.
It certainly belongs in the second rank of Ghibli fantasies. But give it a chance.
Most will be caught up in its beautiful spell, immersed in great storytelling at its finest.
The soft-focus animation has an impressionistic quality, as if a gentle breeze had wafted across a Monet canvas.
This smart, winsome fairy tale is not quite Hiyao Miyazaki, but it still might be the best animated film that (some few) will see all year.
Another Studio Ghibli wonder, as heartbreaking for its devotion to craft, artistry and intelligent storytelling (for viewers of all ages) as for its themes of inevitable exile and impossible love.
There's a gentle movie from Japan that's going to seem familiar to a lot of fans of the series of books about 'The Borrowers.'
...yet another jewel in the crown of Studio Ghibli.
...creates a sense of wide-eyed wonder and discovery as we experience the awe-inspiring mysteries of an ordinary house as seen from the four-inch borrower's point of view.
The animation, a gorgeous blend of bewitching watercolored backgrounds and poignantly rendered characters, is, as ever, beyond reproach.
What is most effective is the way the sense of peaceful shelter and retreat in the country setting contrasts with the precariousness of the situations faced by Shawn and Arrietty.
It's hard to imagine this scenario playing out with more delicacy and care than animator-turned-director Yonebayashi Hiromasa brings to bear.
Arrietty has an elegiac mood, like a more wan and sedate Toy Story.
Gently enchanting, an extraordinary adventure
There may not be a frenzy of action and fast cuts but each scene has meticulous details about how the borrowers live, how they make use of the things in their environment to survive.
Tiny people who live in the walls of a rural home are put at risk when they are discovered by the humans residing there. Studio Ghibli offers a soothing animated version of the classic children's novels.
the basic elements of loneliness, friendship, and the fragility of life are intact, along with that ineffable sense of wonder, melancholy, and magic
By being less bizarre than SPIRITED AWAY and having more of a human center to the film, THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY is one of Studio Ghibli's best efforts to date.

The Engadget Interview: AMD's Sasa Marinkovic
This isn't the easiest time to be an AMD fan. The company's eight-core FX-8150 desktop chip was widely panned on the review circuit, and then NVIDIA's GTX 680 graphics card ran off with Radeon HD's thunder. Even when you look at notebook processors, where AMD has long excelled with its Fusion APUs, the hype wars currently favor Ultrabooks and Ivy Bridge. Affection for the gamers' brand and its ATI back-story may make this stuff uncomfortable, but the predicament is already starting to mess with AMD's balance sheet. Which raises the obvious question: what's to be done?
Sasa Marinkovic, AMD's Head of Desktop and Software Product Marketing, bravely took up the challenge of providing his side of the story -- even after we warned him that we'd try to disrupt his flow with accusatory glances. In the end, we did get him to acknowledge some recent hard knocks, particularly with respect to the FX chips and their (lack of) single-threaded performance. But we also got some insight into the mind of a chap who remains genuinely and abundantly confident about his employer's future. Read on and see for yourself.

Jennifer Lopez Enlists Enrique Iglesias For First World Tour
Star planning 60-date trek through U.S., South America, Europe and Asia this summer.

With a hot new single, "Dance Again," and an upcoming greatest-hits package to promote, Jennifer Lopez is hitting the road this summer, and she's taking Enrique Iglesias with her.
The "American Idol" judge is set to launch a 60-date world tour in South America in June and will be joined by her "Mouth 2 Mouth" duet partner Iglesias. A source close to Lopez told Celebuzz she "is very excited about him joining the tour."
"This will be a huge tour, complete with a lavish set, full band and team of dancers," the source added.
While concert promoter AEG has not confirmed all dates, Lopez and Iglesias will reportedly visit the United States, South America, Europe and Asia this summer after this season of "Idol" concludes. The tour will snake through Venezuela, Chile, Argentina and Brazil before returning to the U.S. for a planned second round of production rehearsals with shows beginning here in mid-July.
Though she went on a brief tour with then-husband Marc Anthony in 2007, Lopez is looking at this trek as her first-ever full-on world tour. "I did a little minitour with Marc right when I was pregnant [with twins Max and Emme]," Lopez told Ellen DeGeneres last year. "We just did, like, 20 shows. But I've never really done the world tour thing."
Iglesias was previously set to join Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale Tour tour last year but pulled out just hours after the announcement was made, citing his belief that he was set to be Spears' co-headliner, not her opening act.
