PANAMA CITY, Fla. (www.incnow.tv) - More than a week after a terrifying parasailing accident, one of two Roanoke teenagers has been released from the hospital.

Alexis Fairchild, 17, was discharged Wednesday from Bay Medical Center in Panama City, WMBB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Panama City, Fla., reports.

"Even the doctors have said they cant believe with the injury that Alexis had," Michael Fairchild, Alexis' father, says at a press conference held Wednesday in Bay Medical Center. "Without the prayers, I just don't know where we'd be at today. Because, I think God had a lot to do with this. Not only the doctors and nurses. "We had Him on our side."

Alexis suffered back and head trauma after she and friend, Sidney Good crashed into a condiminium, through power lines and onto parked cars after the chord to a parasail they were riding in snapped July 1.

Sidney, 17, remains at Bay Medical Center with a promising recovery. She underwent successful neck surgery Tuesday. She is now eating on her own, and doctors hope she can walk later as soon as Wednesday, according to a family statement released earlier Wednesday.

"She wants to get up and move around," the statement reads. "Another positive development yesterday was when Sidney told her parents she was bored."

The Fairchild says that Alexis will continue her rehab at an Indianapolis hospital.
