Morinville mayor loses battle with cancer

The family of Morinville?s mayor, Paul Krauskopf, has confirmed he has died after a struggle with stage 4 cancer.

According to his wife, Linda, the cancer had spread into his liver and he passed away Sunday afternoon.

Krauskopf was 63 years old and had been mayor for just a few months.

Having been raised in the community Krauskopf was first elected in 1999 after he retired from the Sturgeon School Division where he worked as a program assistant in special education.

A father of eight and grandfather of seven, Krauskopf was very involved in the community including as a volunteer with Christmas Festival, Knights of Columbus, the St. Jean Baptiste Finance Committee and the RC Parish Hall Committee.?
