The Finances of Kids Playing Traveling Baseball Can Add Up

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -? Six year old Josh Swartz has been playing traveling baseball for 6 years.? Josh's Mom, Tracy, tells WCCB's Terrance Bates that she never imagined that the family would have spent the amount of time and money they have for Josh to play baseball.?

The equipment alone is a large investment.? Bats can costs as much as 200 or 300 dollars.? And if you talk with any of the parents, finances will probably come up.? Some parents even feel that traveling baseball has become an exclusive game.?

The equipment that the kids are toting around in their bags is not the only expensive thing.? So are the fees associated with playing competitively.? Josh's Mom Tracy says "If you don't have a support structure from a home perspective and the finances to go along with it, I think it is very difficult for some kids to be able to play at this level."? But for parents who can, it is money well spent.
