If you are buying timeshare in Italy during September one of the things you could see is the celebration of the Holy Nail. During the Celebration, Milan?s archbishop is lifted towards the ceiling of the Duomo in a mechanical basket to lift down the relic for the crowd to see. The holy nail is said to come from the cross on which Christ died.
The holy nail lost its original appearance, supposedly when the Roman Emperor Constantine melted it and turned it into riding apparel for his horse and its history is also unclear. It could have come with Saint Ambrosius, around the 4th century AD, or maybe even a few centuries later with the Crusaders.
