WORLD NEWS TOMORROW - The South African International Relations Minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane told reporters in Pretoria on Wednesday, after a meeting with the Belgian deputy prime minister Didier Reynders, said that a visiting Belgian delegation would meet South African ministers to explore the possible cooperation.
She announced that the Belgium?s deputy prime minister Didier Reynders is on his first official state visit to South Africa.? Maite Nkoana-Mashabane believe there is an opportunity there in the mining sector to work with Belgium on plans for beneficiation of the mineral resources and taking advantage of your historical expertise in this field of? Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said the west European countries had helped support South Africa?s national priorities but did not specify if? Belgium were among them. She said South Africa had expressed interest in having Belgium play an active role in the mooted Tripartite Free Trade Area (T-FTA), which involves the Common Market of East and Southern Africa, the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community. This however would not seems to benefit Belgium in any form or way.
?I indicated to the minister that the T-FTA will encompass 26 countries, with a combined population of 600-million people and a GDP gross domestic product of approximately US $1-trillion,? she said. We call these weasel words in politics as they don?t profound any ground or substance.
Nkoana-Mashabane said.? We are convinced that the key to economic development of the continent lies in creating the necessary infrastructure to facilitate the free movement of goods and services,? but stangely these policies lays in the hands of the Africans whom don?t seems to implement it.
Belgian deputy prime minister Didier Reynders on Wednesday that the? meeting had focused on a possible renewed interest in deepening a possible bilateral trade between Belgium and SA but it needs much more review.
