Lean on Me Home Care: Winner of Burnett County Business Plan ...

The 2011 BCDA Business Plan Competition awards night was held August 4, 2011?at the Lodge at Crooked Lake in Siren, WI.? Five businesses?were competing this year for a $2,500?cash award and a no-interest loan.? The businesses competing this year included:? Gregg?s Welding, Lean On Me Home Care, Grantsburg Fitness Center, Fresh Start Coffee Roasters, and Essential Wellness.? The contest is held every year and was sponsored by the Burnett County Development Association, UW Extension- Burnett County, Burnett County, Northwest Regional Planning Commission, Bremer Bank, and Community Bank.

This year, Lean on Me Home Care had the winning business plan. Beth Ryan and Nancy Longhenry are the owners of this new business based in Grantsburg, WI. They provide the following services to the elderly, disabled or any person in need:

? Companionship ? participating in friendly socialization activities such as walks, board?games and cards
? Meal planning and preparation
? Baking for holidays and special occasions
? Light housekeeping ? vacuuming, dusting, cleaning refrigerators and washing floors
? Heavier cleaning ? spring cleaning such as windows, light fixtures and walls
? Laundry, ironing and changing linens
? Errands and shopping
? Transportation services ? social activities, doctor appointments
? Medication reminders
? Pet care ? feeding, exercising, cleaning litter boxes and taking to appointments
? Care of house plants
? Lawn care ? mowing, raking, shoveling snow and tending to gardens
? Basic personal care ? hygiene, dressing, showering, tub baths, teeth brushing,?incontinent care, hair care, assisting with toilet needs
? Bill paying
? Correspondence with family, friends and deliveries
? Organizing household and handyman services
? Respite care for family caregivers
