(PhatzRadio/ Detroit Free Press) ? CHICAGO ? LeBron James had trouble sleeping the night before the opener of the Eastern Conference finals because he was so excited about the opportunity ahead. Maybe he was a little tired Sunday night.

Now the Miami Heat star likely will have more restless nights ahead before Game 2 on Wednesday night.

James picked up two first-quarter fouls, had an off-night offensively shooting just 5-for-15, and the Heat?s defense became unglued in the second half Sunday night as the Bulls took control in a 103-82 victory.

James, averaging 26.1 points in the playoffs, finished with 15 ? five in the second half.

Chicago native Dwyane Wade scored 18, eight under his playoff average, shooting 7-for-17.

If not for Chris Bosh, the other member of Miami?s heralded Big Three, the game could have gotten away earlier in the deafening roar of the United Center. Bosh scored 30 points.

In the opening moments of the game, James had a block, a steal, a dunk, a rebound and an assist as the Heat came out ? and as promised ? withstood the early din at the United Center.

But the decibel level got cranked in the opening minutes of the second quarter when Taj Gibson went over Wade with an emphatic dunk that turned into a three-point play, tying the game.

OKLAHOMA CITY 105, MEMPHIS 90: Kevin Durant bounced back from his worst playoff performance ever to score 39 points, and Russell Westbrook had his first playoff triple-double as host Oklahoma City won Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference finals. The Thunder will play Dallas on Tuesday. Mike Conley led Memphis with 18 points, and Zach Randolph (Michigan State) was limited to 17 points and 10 rebounds.

PHOENIX: Suns president and CEO Rick Welts revealed to the public that he is gay in a story posted on the New York Times? Web site, saying he wants to break down one of the last significant social barriers in sports. Welts talked to NBA commissioner David Stern, WNBA president Val Ackerman, Hall of Famer Bill Russell and Suns guard Steve Nash before discussing his sexual orientation with a reporter from the Times, the newspaper said. All offered Welts their support. Welts said he told Nash because they hold each other in high professional regard.
